Story synopsis

The time chime in the early morning bakery is about to be replaced; Xu He asks Lin Xu to record the old sound, only to discover that the rhythm remembered by regular customers differs from the actual chime produced by the machine. The two listen one by one to the memories shared by patrons, discovering that different daily routines gave the same chime different meanings. After the new chime is installed, the old recording is kept beside a small display card in the shop, allowing the familiar echo to endure while permitting the store to enter a new routine.
